I can be reached at cn.byrne@mchsi.com or phoned at 563 557 8970 or 563-580-1904 (cell).

I was born in Denver, Colorado, and also lived in Oregon, California, and Spain before moving to Iowa in 1995. For much of my life, I worked in mortgage banking, but in 1989, after leaving the business world, I moved to Spain for eight months with my husband, Robert Byrne. There I studied Spanish art, painted several oil paintings, and studied with other artists briefly. After returning to the United States, I returned to school in California to further my education in graphic design and fine art. Since moving to Dubuque, I have painted for years with Dubuque’s Tuesday Group and also owned The Main Gallery and Studio in Dubuque (2001-2005). I continue to paint on my own and belong to The Art Studio in Fountain Park in Dubuque with other area artists. We will shortly be moving to the Caradco Building in the Dubuque Warehouse District. Contact me for details.

I’ve drawn and painted since I was five years old, so although I’ve taken many college courses and workshops, I am largely self-taught. I continue to educate myself by taking workshops and talking with other artists. I’m part of The Art Studio located in StudioWorks in the Dubuque Millwork District, where more of my work can be seen.

My background as a commercial illustrator has given me the desire to explore all kinds of media, and I find myself bored with doing just one thing in only one style. I just finished the work for my exhibit at the Dubuque Museum of Art, which opened December 7, 2012, which demonstrates my abilities in realism and abstract painting. Presently I am working on large landscapes and portraits of humans and animals.

I have had two shows at the University of Dubuque, in 1996 and 2000, the last in partnership with Connie Meester, a Dubuque poet. In 2003 I was honored to be chosen as one of the artists to hang a piece in the new Grand River Center. I’ve was also juried into the Tri-State Tri-Annual Exhibit in 2004, the Biennial Exhibits in 2007, 2009 and 2011 at the Dubuque Museum of Art. My works hang in many homes and business establishments in Dubuque and other places in the U.S.A. and overseas.

My most recent exhibit entitled “Inspired by Poets” was shown at the Dubuque Museum of Art from December, 2012 to March, 2013. I am continuing work with music/poetry/art in my studio at StudioWorks, 900 Jackson Street, Dubuque, Iowa in the historic Millwork District.
